Soap Supplies

If you are interested in making your own soap or cleaning supplies, you will need a few soap supplies. Perhaps the most important supplies you will need are lye, molds, and oils and salts. These can be obtained fairly easily for the most part but some ingredients may be harder to get than others.

The molds you use to press your soap can be simple square affairs or they can be ornate designs such as seashells, or monogrammed molds. They can be homemade or even hand pressed to suit your every need. The various oils and salts you select will be determined by the colors and scents you want to imprint on your soap. For these easily obtainable soap supplies, the choice is yours.

Lye is the last and perhaps the most important item you will need in your soap supplies toolkit. Until recently, lye could easily be obtained at most major grocery stores. Sadly, the methamphetamine epidemic that has been sweeping our country has limited its availability as it is used in the production of meth. Fortunately, lye can still be found and purchased in bulk, but you may have to ask for it specifically, it is no longer usually displayed openly. You may also be required to present a valid state ID which will then be photocopied and kept on record.
